defend himself, cross examine the witnesses, find evidence, i don t think it s going to have an impact. every democrat i spoke to, he s called for andrew cuomo to resign. i m taken to senators and the republicans are against him to begin with and virtually every democrat. i don t know what he s hoping to do by prolonging this. impeachment is a dangerous thing. you re removing a duly elected official. if he s incapable of governoring, i don t know why he will stay on unless it s part of a negotiating process that would involve him resigning and the criminal matters being resolved at the same time. the impeachment is primarily a political issue. it s whether or not people think he can govern. it s separate. it s very specific. it will be subject to cross examination, grand jury testimony and the rest. trace: you make a good point,
it s just not realistic, or immigrants are the problem rather than automation, but i wonder the way the the jobs have been saved before, and they gave the auto industry a lot of money to save them. you have republican governoring saying we re going to save the coal industry, when it s dies. why is that not the answer here? i think he doesn t care. trump doesn t care. he shouldn t have made those promises. he doesn t see people as workers, he sees them as props, and the same seems to be true about general motors they workers have given up their lives for this company. lordstown is a small place that relies on these economic incentives. this is a long-term problem,
don t those possibilities only exist because donald trump has no core principles? because he s willing to maneuver any way if he wants to and finds it beneficial. i don t want to say he has core principles because all the evidence is against it, but in a way that doesn t matter at least in the terms of the context of this conversation. the presidents we remember, that we tend to want to both emulate and commemorate are the ones who have reached beyond their base for whatever reason. without selling their principles out, though. that s one of the things we look to our leaders for is to stay true to their principles and still get things done, and that s real leadership. donald trump have that. that s what i m saying. the possibilities i guess are endless in a lot of ways because he is willing to go wherever he thinks it s going to benefit him without having any care about immigration. basically, a true leader is basically all of the sudden governoring for the rest of the coun
investigation, talk of impeachment. there s not going to be governoring. if they get the senate, no more judicial appointments. they re for open boards, catch and release, sanctuary cities. it s more chaos. it s effective government, governance as republicans have given us the last two years versus chaos and let s face it, open borders. charles: senator ron johnson. thanks very much. have a great day. charles: before we leave yesterday we interviewed leah burkeman. she s ranking against tammy baldwin. we called her to ask her to join us and we have not heard back from her. amazon is a company that missed their sales estimates. forecasting sales below estimates for the holiday season. the stock is all over the place. the question though is will it take all of the steam out of the
prequalified republican con tes terror contest terrs for the presidenc. we wanted someone who was not a politician. won the majority of counties in america and now he s governoring. the president coming off the bench, interesting for us and fairly thrilled about it. red states we ve got seats to lose, president trump will be a moetd s motivator for the republican party to come out. much like the democrat party is already energized. they re going to vote against donald trump. so right now, to have a president come out and do what he s doing and talk about legacy, he s leaving that $10 trillion worth of debt he left the president with. you realize that donald trump and the republican just put a trillion in tax cut debt on the books. before we go any further, you said something in answer to the question what happened to the republican party, well, donald trump won. isn t that kind of a damming, right? republicans are elected as
