NY Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that New York State Police is participating in a "special traffic enforcement initiative" during Thanksgiving weekend.

April marks Distracted Driving Awareness Month nationwide. Law enforcement throughout the state will be stepping up patrols during this enforcement initiative, which runs from Thursday, April 8 through Monday, April 12. As we saw with the tragic death of Trooper Joe Gallagher, distracted driving can have deadly consequences, and it will not be tolerated in the State of New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
