A five-member panel of the apex court unanimously held that there was no merit in the suit filed by David Edevbie with respect to the Delta PDP governorship tussle.
The Supreme Court has affirmed Delta Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori, as the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Delivering the lead judgement, Justice Tijani Abubakar, also dismissed the appeal of David Edevbie for lacking in merit. The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the judgement of the Court of Appeal delivered on August 29.
Palpable fear has gripped the two factions of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the Supreme Court is set to rule on the party's governorship ticket on Friday (today). David Edevbie, former chief of staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and former Governor James Ibori's anointed governorship is in a legal battle with the state House of Assembly speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori over the party’s governorship ticket for the 2023 election.
