PESHAWAR: Amid prolonged protest by the teaching fraternity of the Malakand University, Chakdara against the alleged corrupt practices, irregularities, favouritism in appointments and admission as well as threats to teachers by Vice-Chancellor Dr Gul Zaman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman has ordered a high-level committee to look into the matter and submit a report to him within a fortnight.
Two separate notifications were issued to this effect and a committee under special secretary, Higher Education Department (HED), Ali Qadir Safi has been formed to probe the alleged irregularities in the university.
The protesting teachers have, however, demanded the government to suspend the incumbent vice-chancellor or send him on forced leave till completion of the inquiry so that he may not influence the investigation process.

PESHAWAR: The teaching fraternity has stressed the need for expediting the inquiry by the Governor’s Inspection Team (GIT) into the alleged anomalies and irregularities in the Malakand University and suspending the vice-chancellor till completion of the probe.
The university teachers have levelled serious allegations of nepotism, mismanagement, irregularities against Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gul Zaman. They have also accused him of threatening and harassing teachers and violating laws pertaining to the university affairs.
The administration on the other hand rejected the allegations as baseless and said that the university was functioning well in a transparent and effective manner. “These are mere allegations, which can’t be accepted until proved,” said spokesman for the university.

PESHAWAR: Allegations of sexual harassment of female students by teachers of Islamia College University Peshawar could not be proved. However, it has been reported that female students were being bullied by male teachers unnecessarily by calling them to their offices. Similarly, two female students accused the chairman of the political science department of inappropriate behavior. ICUP administration failed to provide a suitable environment for female students and staff. Few male and female students were reluctant to record statements against male staff during government investigations against administration fearing revenge in exams and papers.
