Brazilian far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, a skeptical COVID-19 who has refused to take public health measures to stop the spread of coronavirus, has been fined for failing to comply with health safety regulations at a public event in Maranhao state.
State Governor Flavio Dino said late Friday that health authorities had filed a case against Bolsonaro for “promoting rallies that did not have health protection in Maranhaon.”
“The law applies to everyone,” Dino tweeted, reminding people that gatherings of more than 100 people are banned and face masks are mandatory.
