The Supreme Court on Thursday said that had Maha Vikas Aghadi leader Uddhav Thackeray refrained from resigning from the post of Maharashtra Chief Minister, it could have considered the grant of the remedy of reinstating the government headed by him while also castigating then Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for asking Thackeray to prove his majority in the Assembly.
In parliamentary terms, a whip can refer to both a written order to members of a party to abide by a certain direction, and to a designated party official of the party who is authorised to issue such a direction
Thackeray’s party colleague Anil Parab said they will write to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker urging him to take a call on the matter at the earliest
NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Monday took a dig at Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde saying that he will not resign as Maharashtra Chief Minister on moral grounds following the Supreme Court verdict on last year s political crisis in the state and said the opposition MVA alliance will see what it can do on the issue of disqualification of 16 MLAs during the assembly session in July.
The matter of disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs could have been dealt with had the MVA moved swiftly after the resignation of Nana Patole as the Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly, said senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Friday.
