ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI-There will be no ‘BVI Christmas’ with carrot cakes, coconut tarts and Guavaberry wine for controversial Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert as it seems even the pandemic can t keep him in the Virgin Islands for the holidays.
According to a press release from Government Information Service (GIS) on December 18, 2020, Governor Jaspert, who has been under fire for what some have deemed as insensitive and racist remarks about reparations for chattel slavery and the preservation of names of landmarks in honour of perpetrators of the brutal acts of slavery, will be out of the Territory until early January 2021.

Wheatley (R7), the relationship with the UK can hardly be defined as a partnership, since the UK wants to have all the say.

According to a press release from Government Information Services (GIS) on December 11, 2020, His Excellency the Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert said at the launch of the publication on Thursday, December 10, 2020, that he was thrilled to see the atlas come to life after much work by the Trust.
Governor Jaspert said, “I hope this publication will be a valuable resource for schools across the Territory, and will inspire the next generation to protect and preserve BVI’s beautiful natural environment. I am grateful to the UK for providing funds to support this important project.”
