Guv hopeful that municipal quarantine can lower COVID cases Philippine Information Agency 06 Jun 2021, 16:38 GMT+10 ILOILO CITY, June 6 (PIA) - Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. is optimistic that the implementation of the municipal quarantine and the imposition of restrictions on non-essential travels within and into the province will result to a decline in the number of cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In a press conference, Defensor appealed to the residents in the province to avoid non-essential travels for two weeks, from June 4 to June 18, 2021, pursuant to Executive Order 175. We have to capacitate ourselves to deal with or attend to our patients with COVID-19 and we have to counter the increasing trend of transmission by reducing the circulation of people in the province, he said.

Iloilo guv issues memo on restrictions on non-essential travel Philippine Information Agency 03 Jun 2021, 22:38 GMT+10 ILOILO CITY, June 3 (PIA) - Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. has issued a memorandum that clarified guidelines on the imposition of restrictions on non-essential travel within and into Iloilo Province. The memorandum, pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 175, Series of 2021, contained guidelines regarding the implementation of the municipal quarantine from June 4 to 18, particularly the issuance of travel pass. Defensor enjoined the Philippine National Police provincial director, municipal and city chiefs of police, city and municipal mayors, local task forces, and punong barangays to strictly implement and observe these guidelines.

As of April 6, the Western Visayas regional office of the Department of Health (DOH-6) has recorded 413 active cases of COVID-19 in Iloilo province and another 348 cases in Iloilo City. Defensor has directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the 42 towns and component city and local government officials including barangay (village) officials to strictly implement the ban on social gatherings.  The ban includes birthdays, fiestas, wedding receptions, baptismal banquests, anniversary celebration, and other similar gatherings.
