ROCK RAPIDSâState auditor Rob Sand dug in with a series of public forums in NâWest Iowa, including a Wednesday, June 2, stop outside the Lyon County Courthouse in Rock Rapids.
The most Republican county in the Hawkeye State yielded just three members of the Lyon County Democratic Party, a more intimate gathering than most stops on statewide officialsâ 99-county tours. Larger crowds were in attendance in Sandâs other events in Sioux Center and Sibley on Wednesday and Sheldon on Thursday.
âIâm happy with just three people,â Sand said. âThe newspaper is here and thereâs good conversation.â

Former two-term Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino was in Plattsburgh Tuesday as he kicked off his second run for governor of New York.
Astorino is barnstorming upstate and stopped in front of Plattsburgh City Hall Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m here in Plattsburgh to announce that I’m officially running for governor of New York state, Astorino said. And I’m excited to do that. It is a great state. It is a big state. The North Country deserves better than what it’s been getting out of Albany. And I’m in it to win it. And we will shock the world come next November.”
