The Maharashtra government on Wednesday issued guidelines for the Mahashivratri festival celebrations stating that all religious festivals are being celebrated simply this year in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines.
It further said that the prevalence of corona has not yet decreased and the number of patients in the state as well as in big cities are on the rise again. Therefore, considering the situation, it is necessary to celebrate Mahashivratri on Thursday in a very simple manner this year.

Maharashtra government has passed an order issuing guidelines allowing a gathering of not more than 100 people for the Shiv Jayanti celebrations on 19 February. The guidelines passed by the Maharashtra home department now allows a gathering of 100 people.
Earlier, BJP had raised objections alleging that the government was allowing a gathering of just ten people which was against the sentiments of the people.
And now after the state home department issued the guidelines, BJP has hit back at the Shiv Sena saying that BJP will not accept any restrictions set by the state government on Shiv Jayanti celebrations and that it would carry out massive celebrations.

After imposing a night curfew across all municipal corporations in the state till January 5, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government has on Wednesday released guidelines for Christmas 2020. In the wake of a new coronavirus variant detected in the United Kingdom, the state government is extra cautious and has asked the administration to remain vigilant.
Here is the full list of guidelines for Christmas 2020:
1. Christian brothers and sisters should celebrate this year s Christmas in a simple way.
2. A prayer meet should be held in the church in the presence of a maximum of 50 people. Care should be taken that the church will not be crowded in any way at that time and social distancing will be maintained.
