Ven. Medille Pangnaloka Thera and two lawyers yesterday filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an order in the nature of Writ of Mandamus directing the Inspector General to conduct an investigation into the release of the contaminated coconut oil to the market for human consumption.
The petitioners are further seeking an order to initiate legal action against the wrongdoers.
Ven. Medille Pangaloka Thera and attorneys Dasun Nagashena and Janaka Hewasinghe filed this petition naming the Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardene, Sri Lanka Standard Institution Chairman Nushad Perera, Sri Lanka Standard Institution Director General Dr. Siddhika Senarathne and several others as respondents.
