After suffering for over a decade due to severe reoccurring pain in her left hand, a woman from a Patiala village was finally relieved of the pain following a successful surgery by a team of doctors from Government Mata Kaushalya Hospital, Patiala.
After a gap of two years, the city today reported six cases of another vector-borne disease – chikungunya. The district had not reported even a single case over the past two years. Health officials said all cases were reported from the city alone.
Whenever the district hospital runs out of the X-ray films, employees make a bizarre announcement: “Only those who have smartphones should come for X-ray.”
Giving a cautionary advice to private hospitals and labs in district, the Health Department has capped the price of dengue confirmatory test. Any violation of the advisory by private labs and hospitals would invite action, said the Health department.
Government hospitals in the district are facing an acute shortage of psychiatrists because, as of now, there is only one psychiatrist in the district. It has been learnt that two psychiatrists have recently resigned from their posts.
