IRON MOUNTAIN Dickinson County has again qualified for a federal grant of more than $1 million to help support Ford Airport through the pandemic.
The county in 2021 is eligible for up to $1,012, 308, Controller Brian Bousley reported during the county board’s Zoom meeting Monday.
The appropriation is part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act signed into law Dec. 27 during the final weeks of the Trump administration. In all, nearly $2 billion will be awarded to eligible U.S. airports.
This year’s funding follows a 2020 CARES Act appropriation to Ford Airport of $1.085 million. About $690,000 of that was used to pay off hangar construction borrowing, with the remainder dedicated to payroll and other expenses.
