Hawaiʻi Gov. Josh Green signed laws that prohibit firearms at a variety of places including hospitals, beaches, stadiums, movie theaters and bars that serve alcohol and mandates active shooting training at all public and charter schools in the state.
Gov. Josh Green appointed former Hawaiʻi Gov. Neil Abercrombie, Global Resiliency Hub CEO Alapaki Nahale-a of the Big island and attorney Lauren Akitake to the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents.
While on his trip, the governor will meet with government officials and others working to solve homelessness, housing and health care issues in Washington state.
The Big Island’s largest renewable energy project, with 94,000 solar panels on 300 acres in Waikōloa, was blessed on Thursday with Hawai’i Gov. Josh Green in attendance.
Gov. Green the only physician governor in the country, spoke on the importance of treating behavioral health as primary healthcare, as well as addressing homelessness through humane methods such as developing tiny homes. He also emphasized the need for healthcare reform to increase efficiency and accessibility for all.
