Democrat Mike Collier thinks Republicans take places like Wichita Falls and the rural reaches of Texas for granted.  So he chose Amarillo to officially announce the launch of an exploratory committee Wednesday to test the waters for a rematch against Republican Lt. Gov Dan Patrick in 2022, Collier said Thursday during a stop in Wichita Falls. Collier said Republicans just assume rural Texans will always back them.  How often do they come out and actually talk to them about what people are worried about? Collier, a Houston area Certified Public Accountant, said. I don t view it that way, he said.  I think if you re going to be lieutenant governor, you ve got to work for everybody.

Abbott said in a statement he asked for and accepted D’Andrea’s resignation and plans to name “a replacement in the coming days who will have the responsibility of charting a new and fresh course for the agency.”
