This after the International Transport Workers Federation received information indicating that the company may have registered the MV Lomaiviti Princess III 14 meters shorter than its actual size. It is also alleged that the ship is also 2.431 lower gross tonnages when Goundar brought it to Fiji under the name MV Queen of Chilliwack. International Transport Workers Federation inspector Sarah Maguire said the ferry has likely not received the critical maintenance required for a vessel of its size. Maguire said the vessel is not staffed with a crew of required skill and experience according to Fijian regulations and international rules.

With respect to the recent allegations of abandonment by three Filipino crew members against their Fijian Employer, Goundar Shipping Limited, the relevant Fijian government agencies are currently conducting investigations in relation to these allegations. If the allegations are substantiated, appropriate action will be taken against Goundar Shipping Limited including recovery of any outstanding labour entitlements due to the crew members. The Fijian Government authorities will also continue working closely with the Fijian Immigration Department to ensure the safe repatriation of the respective crew members.
