that applies to every one, including jared, ivanka. including steve bannon. including steve bannon. r one is going to have to go through john kelly. do you think from what you know of the folks in this white house that that is an adjustment, that s a change that they are going to be willing to make in order to sow order in aid place that has been a gotting to put it nicely. well, i think a lot of the chaos came from within these factions that are inside the white house and if they re able to operate more as a team. you have to make adjustments. remember, you had a lot of rnc folks coming in, you had a lot of folks from the private sector coming in. frankly a lot that weren t involved with his election s may not have even voted for him. and then you had the people like steve bannon and those people coming in too. and i think bringing somebody in like this like john kelly, his experience in the military obviously shows that he can be a leader. i think we ll see. what s donald t
trump doesn t like actually firing people. he likes talking about firing people but has not actually fired many people in his administration. but it s also that replacing sessions is going to be extremely challenging. if trump does in fact want to have someone in that job who will intervene in this russia investigation, that person is going to have an extraordinarily hard time being confirmed by the united states senate and it s for that reason and also because gotting rid getting rid of your a.g. and old a.g. is not conducive to trump s governing philosophy, which has to do with immigration and enforcement and border security. so i think he s in a tough spot all around and i m not surprised that sessions hasn t resigned in the face of all of this extraordinary pressure. it s because he knows that trump has not actually been known to pull the trigger and fire people unless he seems like he has
look, there s 20 million people who now have health coverage because of the affordable care act. and making sure that the new plan doesn t leave anybody suddenly without health care is their goal. something that former house speaker john boehner said last week, he never should have sold it as repeal and replace, what s going to happen is they re going to end up fixing it, improving the law and putting a conservative box around it. and the reason they re gotting to repeal and replace and replace it. because all of these years of his time in capitol hill, republicans couldn t agree on a health care plan. and i want to now bring in david gergen, cnn s political analyst. before we talk about the president s speech and other things, i want to talk about news just in to cnn, cnn is
and i think in mexico, the president was gotting a lot of pressure, he s got a 12% popularity rating. and he very quickly canceled right after that. this is just a falling out of the relationship and i think we have to see if it can be repaired. as you know, president trump always says he s a great dealmaker, nobody can make a deal like him. but if he can t get into a room together with the mexican president, how is he going to make a deal? look, that could still come, eventually. he is still in campaign mode. he just is. he s still in campaign mode and more specifically in keeping campaign promises mode. it s just day seven? day six, i guess. they re blurring together. exactly. and what is the thing that we remember most about his campaign speeches? i m going to build a wall. and then it s interactive. and mexico is going to pay for it. you know, the trade deals. he s going to rip them up. nafta needs to be changed. that is it. that is the core of who he was and why he got fra
