between these two countries is obviously going to come as a big relief to the financial markets. you mentioned the democratic race that s unfolding right now. we know the president watched some of that from over here in japan. he even put out some tweets during the middle of all of this. at one point i think he tweeted just one word, boring. so my guess is you re going to have someone in this room asking the president to somewhat handicap this democratic field. i did talk to a senior white house official early on during this summit who said george and natalie, when they saw over here in japan all of those democratic contenders raise their hand and said they would support providing health care to undocumented immigrants, that was essentially a gotcha moment they felt inside the white house and inside the trump campaign, a piece of video they might save for later because they feel that is an animating issue for the president heading into the 2020 campaign. it s one he s used to some
so there is a value at least politically it not substantively of hearing bob mueller breathe life into the written word. now, i don t expect him to stray from the report but again just talking about it publicly and talking about it on a day, as you say, there will be wall-to-wall coverage will help bring this report to life and there s a value in that. not only is there value, there s i mean, that s the strength of the mueller testimony to me. everything s already in here. there s no gotcha moment for donald trump, matt miller. there s nothing the president i have to say the president isn t among the seven of us that s read it but i think there s a false limiting sense in some of the commentary already, and this news is barely 15 hours old and people are saying, i don t know if he will stray from the report. the paralysis politically has been no one got through everything in this report. people wanted to move past it. mueller testifying about its

considering which woman are they going to put on the ticket. he was basically saying, of course, because it s a conversation that they re all having behind closed doors. and i agree with you, stephanie, i think they are trying to make something out of nothing and that s unfair to him. i think that the way he actually reversed the question, said throwing it back at her, why aren t we asking the women that? because it s true, we re not asking the women that. so i think it s nothing. but i do think that the trouble that folks are going to have in this election because there s so many candidates, is that everybody s going to want to have that gotcha moment. and what the democratic party really needs is a moment to reset, to breathe, and talk about the real issues that are going to galvanize the american public to come and vote. and it s not necessarily the people that are on the, you know, on the extreme you know, that are on the extreme progressive side that are going to vote. is it the
against hatred, bigotry and move on to what the american people want us to do. if that is the message, it is quite a general one. why did it take so long for the democratic party to reach unity on that message? i don t think it took that long to reach unity. i think there was a lot of, first of all, we were gone over the weekend. there was a lot of discussion. a lot of members of this caucus had very strong feelings about what they re seeing. we move very quickly. a lot of times things don t move this quickly. you have to realize that a lot of times there are gotcha moments. i think we find a way to remember that we are not republicans or democrats, that we are americans and we stand up against hatred against anybody. they are trying to do gotcha moment. we are voting on it today, a
