what we do know is that newt gingrich has been working on a new strategy with his staff, and that is a strategy that we re expecting. sources tell cnn to be more of a positive strategy. this may make you think that s quite a 180. as recently as last night, you heard him hammering on mitt romney, trying to tie him to the big banks, comparing him to president obama, perhaps one of the biggest insults here on the campaign trail for republicans. but sources tell cnn that newt gingrich has been meeting with his staff. what has he been doing? because we know he didn t have a lot on his public schedule today. that s what he s been up do. he will continue to meet with staff tomorrow and flesh out this new strategy going forward and a sign that he s going to come out tonight and continue to say that he s in this for the long haul, this strategy, a source tells cnn, is to move forward and continue to accumulate delegates all the way to the convention. so we are expecting newt gingric
they re going to do some caucusing out there. nevada is much smaller than any of the other big states. i m not trying to offend nevada people but it hasn t gotten the hype. there is a lot of hype regarding what s going on out there. sharon angle has just endorsed rick santorum and a poll came out and we just saw it flash across james dobson got santorum in colorado. if you re curious, in nevada right now, it sounds like mitt romney is ahead 45-25, newt is in second place. meanwhile, in florida, you know, that was one of those situations where they were penalized because they moved their primary before april 1st so they lost half of their delegates. well, as it turns out, part of the small print said that it s got to be proportional. and now, what newt gingrich is apparently going to do later today, one of his campaign members down in florida is going to ask the rnc to give him a proportion of the votes he says he wants.
it s a little less as the total turnout is. what you re seeing with ron paul is a lot of new voters, about 25% new caucus goers coming for the first time. as i ve seen the early numbers and was looking at the maps of east versus west versus middle the evangelicals are pretty much across the board kind of where they were at huckabee in 2008 but when you talk about a two man race in 2008 between mike huckabee and mitt romney, those are the two choices. now they ve got santorum, gingrich, perry, bachmann. some of them as you ve seen from your polling to dr. paul and some to mitt romney. you re seeing mitt romney under perform a little bit where he was in the west but over performing in the middle and so i think at the end of the day it s a little bit like 2008 but mostly a lot different. in terms of how huckabee put together his iowa win in 2008 and the sort of long bumpy road that lies ahead of all of these candidates who aren t named mitt romney tonight, do you think there is a lesson
to like this, the republican in this race needs to be able to talk to americans who are not so well off is the way he s going to put it. he s going to make a populist argument against mitt romney. also saying you don t have to compromise your conservative principles to beat obama. santorum s going to be out there arguing that mitt romney has no foreign policy experience and saying there s not enough contrast with obama when you look at issues like the bailout. willie, think about this. mitt s not been touched over the past several months. conservatives have been hitting conservatives. now he s got santorum, he s got gingrich that s going to level it against him. and a new front opens up, jon huntsman who is going to be going after mitt, as well. with perry looking like he s going to drop out, those are the voters that could go to santorum in south carolina. jon huntsman has been pretty much living in new hampshire like santorum has been taking on iowa. there could be a new dimens
