A 47-year-old man from Kalimpong, falsely promised a security guard job in Moscow, was tricked into joining the Russian army and is now seeking rescue from being sent to fight in Ukraine. Urgen Tamang, a retired Indian Army havildar, made a desperate plea to the Indian government in a video message. His family, including his wife and two daughters, has reached out to authorities for help, including Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, in ensuring his safe return.
