Fort Collins Police Services arrested Branco Sept. 7 of 2022 in connection to the overdose death of Kara Gorman, who was found unresponsive by her boyfriend. According to court records, the Branco and Gorman who was born in Kansas but had recently moved to Northern Colorado were in communication by text about purchasing “blues,” a code word for fentanyl, only hours before Gorman was found. FCPS was unable to find any other source for the fatal dose of fentanyl.
A woman sentenced Thursday for selling fentanyl that killed another woman in 2022 was the first to be sentenced under a new 2022 law that aims to fight the fentanyl epidemic, the Eighth Judicial District Attorney's Office announced in a news release.
