With 1,000 pounds of beef, plenty of pints of ale and that signature Pueblo green chile mac and cheese, Shamrock Brewing Company is ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Located at 108 W. Third St., Shamrock Brewing Company opens at 10 a.m. Wednesday for the Irish holiday. Although it won’t be a typical 2,000 customer St. Patrick’s Day, it would seem the luck of the Irish is with the pub because just a year ago, they were shut-down to in-person gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, with the coronavirus pandemic, many say the expectation is that it may be a miss.
Some restaurants will be open on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day, including 1129 Spirits and Eatery, Pass Key, Graham’s Grill and Angelo’s Pizza Parlor. Others Papa Jose’s Union Café and Shamrock Brewing Co. will be closed until January.
Michael Madrid has worked for the Pass Key on Abriendo Avenue for 11 years, noting that two of the restaurant s busiest days are the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas. But this year the restaurant saw an 80% decrease in sales the day after Thanksgiving, resulting in changes for the upcoming holidays.
