CATLIN — Salt Fork High School Agriculture teacher Stacey Rickard is the East Central Teacher of the Year and a 2024 Illinois Teacher of the Year finalist.
Three suburban teachers are among 15 finalists for the 2024 Illinois Teacher of the Year award.
Illinois State Board of Education Superintendent Tony Sanders will select the Teacher of the Year awarde.

“All educators deserve to be highlighted and celebrated for the tireless, phenomenal work they do each day,” said Briana Morales, an East St. Louis educator who was 2023 Illinois Teacher of the Year.
While over half of K-12 pupils in Illinois were students of color in the 2021-22 school year, a recent report found only 17% of teachers were Black, Latino, Asian or another race or ethnicity.
