When it comes to Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Preener), I am stealing my colleague Kurt Schlichter’s #caring hashtag. Kinzinger is the Millennials’ Mitt Romney a total gadfly. I personally have not even cared enough to draft a story about him until now, so I’ll be pulling in my colleagues who have covered him more extensively.
What is very clear is that Kinzinger is on a mission: for more attention and face time on CNN and MSNBC. Kinzinger is now claiming that he warned Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy that violence would be assured on January 6 if the rhetoric and actions of the GOP leadership did not change; alas, martyr that he wants to be, he was ignored, and Here. We. Are.
Sounds like it’s a done deal.

BREAKING: @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy and @SteveScalise turn on Cheney, back Stefanik for conference chair.@PunchbowlNews AM is out https://t.co/4XGDpUp2KJ
Stefanik tells colleagues she has wide backing from moderates in Tuesday Group to conservatives in the Freedom Caucus and that Trump is backing her, per multiple sources.
Cheney is indicating to her allies she is not fighting this, saying it s not worth lying to keep her post
A source close to Cheney summed up for WaPo why she’s not bummed about losing her leadership role: “She’s not going to be a good messenger if it requires lying.” The caucus wants someone who’ll be agnostic at best and a liar at worst about whether the election was stolen from Trump and whether the insurrection wasn’t that bad. Someone whose raw ambition will lead her to pander to any constituency

Over the weekend Democrat impeachment managers briefly agreed to call new witnesses against former President Donald Trump, but quickly changed their minds after realizing what that would mean for President Joe Biden s agenda. While Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his members had prepared for the possibility of voting on witnesses, they got no warning that the lead House prosecutor was about to force a vote that could have prolonged the trial for days or weeks. The impeachment managers spent Friday night and Saturday morning wrestling with the question themselves, according to Democratic sources, POLITICO reported.
One of the Democratic House lawmakers who served as an impeachment manager for former President Trump's second Senate trial said on Sunday that the proceedings could have lasted for years if witnesses were called and fought subpoenas.
