how to spawn and nurture gazelles is what they study in job creation, the greatest gazelle is google, a gazelle is a company that grows rapidly, double digit growth usually for four years in a row and many like google don t stay small companies. gazelles will lead ug on the road to recovery because as jenna noted the small business administration tells us, small businesses account for two-thirds of all jobs in america and increasingly among small businesses startups are where the action is and economists with the sba estimate that between 1997-2008, startups created an average of 3.5 million jobs per year. the problem is, as jenna noted, gazelles only account for 5 percent of all garthups. the secret is to find and feed these gazelles. but they have no particular habitat. these gazelles are found in all regions and industries, so we hunted one down, michael orkner, ceo of
$4 billion in taxpayer subsidies we give to the oil and gas companies each year. that s $4 billion of your money going to these companies when they re making record profits and you re paying near record prices at the pump. it has to stop. the uncertainty caused by turmoil in the middle east is a big cause of high prices. but many economists say the biggest factor driving up the price is the rising demand in countries like india and china, as their economies improve, more people are buying cars and all those cars need gasoline. the market responds to that higher demand by raising the prices. but in washington, of course, everything is political, and so the president s targeting the oil companies, and republicans are targeting the president and over his energy policy jenna. jenna: what do republicans say? high gas prices aren t good for anybody when you re in office. yeah, right. and they say the high prices only point at the need for more domestic oil production. senate minority lea
