New Braunfels City Council members on Monday are expected to discuss and consider a recommendation by the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation approving an expenditure of up to $400,000 to Frantic Holdings, LLC for a project that would bring high-speed broadband infrastructure and services to commercial customers in downtown and other areas of the city.
As part of an effort to increase broadband availability, the EDC in May 2020 contracted with Alk Development Services to oversee the project planâs development with Frantic that would bring broadband services at affordable rates to downtown businesses initially.
Frantic plans to utilize existing street poles to deliver backbone routes and connections to each building, using available city and New Braunfels Utility easements as necessary.Â

Comal County first-responders are discouraging vehicular travel Sunday afternoon as freezing precipitation continued to shut down bridges on major thoroughfares expected to become even more impassible with each passing hour.
The Comal County Sheriffâs Office is reporting icy conditions on U.S. 281, State Highway 46, and most county and farm-to-market roads.
âAll of the roads are icy,â the CCSOâs 9 a.m. Facebook post said. âWe are asking people to stay at home and not travel. Deputies and EMS are having trouble getting to people.â
At 11:30 a.m., Canyon Lake Fire & EMS, serving Emergency Services District No. 3, said it is now screening 9-1-1 calls.
