Indiana University Public Policy Institute researchers project a new Indianapolis grocery store will bring over $11 million to Marion County s economy.
Residents collaborated with Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana and Cook Medical to ensure the business plan included significant community investment. The project brings a community-owned grocery store, and the manufacturing facility opens at least 100 new jobs in the neighborhood.
Dozens of Eastside Indianapolis community members, city leaders and corporate partners celebrated the opening of a new Cook Medical manufacturing facility on Wednesday. It s part of the 38th & Sheridan project, a collaboration with Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana aimed to provide job opportunities and increased access to basic services.
When Cook Medical and Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana announced their partnership to build the facility in November 2020, they set a goal to have all contractors be minority-owned.
