house republican leadership punting a vote on compromise immigration, a bill to next week, after finding they did not currently have the votes needed to pass it. reports from capitol hill many members were wildly confused about what is in the bill and what is not. this after a more conservative measure authored by chair bob goodlatte failed on the house floor yesterday. congressman mike mccall sounding optimistic the house will approve the compromise bill. watch. we have a lot of different factions in our conference, this is one of the better, if not best conferences i ve been to, where everybody is trying to come together as a team so we can get the 218 and get across the finish line. meanwhile, president trump tweeting this morning, alas, more republicans in november and we will pass the finest, fairest, most comprehensive immigration bill in the world. right now we have the dumbest
the way to the supreme court, he was swatted down with executive action on immigration, so i don t fault this administration for being hesitant to use executive action. juan: i m not saying that. people want to see the end, it is not popular among anybody. you want to see an end to the policy, we ll talk about legislatively. juan: we have a situation where republicans are stuck among themselves. no doubt about that. juan: especially amnesty and president trump said he was opposed to the bills and now saying, i m not sure, if you change it, the question is, what is the compromise among republicans? all right, we ll talk about that in the next block. in the meantime, house republican leadership putting back a vote on compromise immigration bill, but the president is placing the blame squarely on democrats, who he says are trying to destruct whether congress can pass a bill ahead of the mid-term election. plus, today is deadline for d.o.j. to hand over documents

compare that to obamacare, that was passed down party lines and that was a disaster in many ways. if this is successful, in close house races, you could have republican saying to democrats, we fixed immigration, democrats didn t help at all. that could be problematic and unfortunately, i m cynical when it comes to some party leaders and i happening nancy pelosi wants to milk this thing like a county fair winning dairy cow past the midterm because the pictures in this story and issue unfortunately give them traction. gives them traction, especially when they lost traction with the dreamers. we saw when we were sitting on the couch eight months ago, the marquee issue for 2018, now it is kids separated from their families. i agree about that. republicans should take heart in how many votes they got from the goodlatte bill, that was surprising. i ve seen some commentary on whether they should take that and add something about the visa lottery, for instance, to
congressman steve scalice. he says wait until after the midterm and see if republicans can pad majority here. leadership plan had been to vote yesterday and they were going to vote yesterday and now it is sometime next week, they realized this bill needs to be sweetened. we have come to the conclusion that there are a couple of provisions we need to add to the bill and that will have a vote on it next week, everybody is working together, working together in good faith. i was really amazed at how we pulled together as a team. did we all agree with each other on everything? no. we pulled together as a team. the leadership is on hold now, has full $25 billion president trump wants for the border wall in it, it would provide pathway to citizenship by daca kids. immigration hard liners and moderates, many call it compromise bill, but democrats don t want to be a part of any
