By recent estimates, about 400 people live in encampments here in oakland. By next week, the hope is that 40 of them will have four walls and a roof over their heads. They are tuff sheds, 20 of them, 10 by 12 feet each, meant to put at least a dent in oaklands exploding homeless problem. One exhibited by sprawling tent cities like this one just a few yards away. We have a longterm plan, a midterm plan and this is the right now plan. This is immediate relief. Reporter joe devries is in charge of the homeless outlook plan.
