Starting at 11 a.m. on March 13, Good News Church, Tikkun Worldwide Charity, and council members Mary Zendejas and Roberto Uranga are teaming up to host the event at Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.) where the public can drive up and have boxes of food loaded inside the trunks or back seats of their vehicles, according to officials. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Feeding South Dakota has been serving about two times the amount of food they normally do. So the non-profit is expanding its efforts to reach more people and closer to home. When the pandemic started, Feeding South Dakota closed its food pantry and focused on doing mass distributions in the community. The concept worked out so well that staff closed the food pantry permanently. Instead, they began offering smaller weekly mobile food distributions.

Feeding South Dakota Expanding In Sioux Falls Feeding South Dakota has been working double-time since the COVID- 19 pandemic hit last March. Because of the added workload, the organization plans to expand its distribution centers across the city of Sioux Falls. According to Dakota News Now, the nonprofit began its Neighborhood Distribution Program back in October with 5 sites around the city. They now plan is to expand to 15 locations this year. Feeding South Dakota is hoping to have the new distribution centers up and running by March. Currently, Feeding South Dakota is looking for partners across the city, willing to lend them locations to temporarily use, as well as allow volunteers to come in and help with the distribution.
