CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The City of Cape Girardeau released its 2021 Endangered Buildings List.
New additions to the Endangered Building list:
600 block of Good Hope Street - on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Haarig Commercial Historical District
2693 Big Bend Road/2680 State Hwy. 177 - Springdale Bird Sanctuary Gateway
419 Bellevue Street - u-shaped apartment building believed to be the oldest apartment building in Cape Girardeau

Business U.S. 60 (West Pine Blvd.) will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform roadside work. This section of road is located between Business U.S. 60/67 (Westwood Blvd.) and Second Street in Poplar Bluff. Weather permitting, crews will be working on
Monday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Oct. 1 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Jackson crews will be working throughout the city to re-stripe roads to improve visibility for drivers. Weather permitting, crews will be working from

‘It was just a wall of fire’: Woman safe from massive house fire after waking up to burning blanket

HOUSTON – A woman is grateful after she escaped her burning home overnight.
The fire started around 11L 10 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Springhill Street near Good Hope Street in south Houston, officials said.
According to first responders, the woman had fallen asleep watching TV when she woke up to her blanket on fire. The woman said she soon as she realized it was the blanket and not her that was on fire, she threw the blanket and ran out of the burning home.
