Abia rated high on security archtecture, as Gowon tasks leaders on safety of citizenry

Daily Post Nigeria Published Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, has received an award of excellence as the best governor with an Improved State in Security (South) in 2020. The assessment/evaluation result from the Business Day Newspaper in the National Discourse and Good Governance Awards ceremony for the year 2020 organised in Abuja, showed that Ikpeazu clinched the award after the state beat Anambra and Ekiti States in the competition. In his response shortly after he received the award, Dr. Ikpeazu described Abia State as a safe haven for investors and business operatives. He revealed that the improved security situation in the State, coupled with access roads created by his administration had increased businesses, while government has also provided enabling environment for business to thrive.

Attack on Northern schools are war crimes - Amnesty International

Amnesty International has described the attack on schools in the Northern part of Nigeria as war crimes and a hindrance to education. The Rights group said this while condemning the abduction of students of the Government Girls’ Secondary School in Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State just few days after Kankara boys were kidnapped. According to the group, the kidnap of students was a serious violation of international humanitarian law and undermined the right to education for children in the north. Amnesty International urged the Buhari-led government to ensure that the students were safe and returned to their homes in due time.
