Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain today said the Digital Security Act should be abolished.
It is one of those notorious acts issued to lengthen the power of a disconnected government, said Dr Kamal, an architect of the country s constitution.
Gonoforum MP Mokabbir Khan read out the written statement of Dr Kamal in a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
When the effective participation of people is absent in the formulation and impartial implementation of laws, then the people owners of the state became helpless, Dr Kamal said.

Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday said the Digital Security Act (DSA) should be abolished, adding that it is one of those black laws which was enacted to extend the tenure of this isolated government .
Kamal, an architect of the country s constitution, made the comments at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club.
Gonoforum lawmaker Mokabbir Khan read out Kamal s written statement. People the owners of the state become helpless where there is an absence of their effective participation in the process of formulation and impartial execution of laws, he said, adding, It is possible to ensure people s role in the process of the formulation and impartial execution of laws only if they could choose their representatives through a neutral election.
Nearly 26 months after joining the party, Reza Kibria resigned from Gonoforum and its post of general secretary. "I've resigned from both the general secretary post and membership of Gonoforum. I've already submitted my resignation letter to party president Dr Kamal Hossain," he told UNB. Asked about his plans, Reza said he has not yet thought about it due to the pandemic.
