China developing border villages near Arunachal, Bhutan, Nepal: White paper

China is ramping up efforts to develop the infrastructure in remote villages located along Tibet s border with India, Bhutan and Nepal, according to a white paper on Tibet issued by the Chinese government on Friday. Developing the border areas and improving people s lives in Tibet has become important as the strategic Himalayan region shares 4,000-km long external border line, the document titled Tibet Since 1951: Liberation, Development and Prosperity said. The inhabitants of the contiguous areas experience harsh living and working conditions and a high incidence of poverty. Governments at all levels have been making constant efforts to develop border areas and improve people s lives, it said.

The new stands will further improve capacity and operational efficiency at Gonggar Airport during rush hours, laying a solid foundation for the next step of operations at Terminal T3, according to Tibet Autonomous Regional Administration of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The ratio was higher than the rate of 85.2 percent for the whole country. At present, there are some 2,200 kindergartens in Tibet, over 10 times the figure for 2011, when the region expanded its free education policies for farmers and herders to cover preschool education.
