1000m2 Prefabricated Housing / SUMMARY

© Fernando Guerra | FG+SG The first floor is all composed of Gomos System units. Considering that the maximum building area permitted by law was quite small, the requested empty space was used to separate the housing units. Designed and licensed as a collective housing building, with this feature this project offers the main advantages of single houses: clearly individualized entrances and a complete acoustic separation between the different units. The ground floor is shaped by prefabricated slabs and structural panels in the external perimeter. This area was conceived in a very flexible way: it’s possible to add or remove compartments or let the whole floor functioning as a big open-space. Thus, the users may adapt the space according to their needs.

SUMMARY Presents a Concrete Installation at the 2016 Venice Biennale

Copy Text description from the architects. At the 15th edition of the Venice Biennale, Alejandro Aravena invited us to look at new fields of action, projects that intend to improve life quality and stories of success that are worth getting to know. Thus, Samuel Gonçalves, founder of the SUMMARY studio, the youngest studio invited, was selected to present his work “infrastructure-structure-architecture” with the purpose of showing the concept behind his project Gomos System. The Biennale exhibits two infrastructural pieces and a Gomos System piece, so that we can get to know some elements that are part of its core. This installation also includes a table set with two screens that simultaneously play videos made by Building Pictures. These videos are exclusive to the exhibition and they allow a comparison between the constructive process of the infrastructure as well as the constructive process of the Gomos System itself.
