Clemson in tie for 10th after First Round of NCAA National Tournament

Clemson, S.C. Turk Pettit continued his outstanding play in the NCAA Tournament with an opening-round 68 to lead Clemson to a tie for 10th after the first round of the NCAA National Tournament at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale Arizona.  The Tigers had a team score of seven-over-par 287 on the par 70 layout that measures 7,289 yards in length.Clemson is part of a log jam in the 30-team field with the 287 score. Wake Forest, Arkansas, SMU, and Illinois are all tied with the Tigers for 10th with the same 287 score. Only three shots separate the 11 teams who are between eighth and 17th place.Clemson has an early tee time for the second round, as Head Coach Larry Penley’s team will begin play off the 10th tee at 6:32 a.m. Pacific time, 9:32 a.m. on the east coast. Fans may follow the scoring live on Golfstat.com. Julian Perico improved five spots into a tie for 14th thanks to a 1-under 70 Tuesday and a 36-hole total of 141 (71-70). Tyson Reeder also stands in a tie for 14th at 1-under (69-72) over two days.

KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. – Tyson Reeder and William Buhl are tied for eighth while Julian Perico is tied for 19th to lead #24 Arkansas after round one of the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional, played the Golf Club of Tennessee (par 71, 7,107 yards). Thanks to a strong finish by the trio, the Razorbacks are in sixth with a 1-under-par round of 283. Reeder, starting on hole 10, was even par after 11 holes. However, he had birdies on back-to-back holes and finished with four pars for his 2-under round of 69. Buhl, who was tied for the lead after nine holes at -3, fell back to even par due to a bogey and a double bogey. The fifth-year senior rallied to birdie two of his last three holes to card his 2-under 69.
