For immediate release: April 21, 2021
LANSING, MI - The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is advising consumers not to eat the following brands of fresh enoki mushrooms, which have tested positive for listeria monocytogenes. The food safety issue was identified as part of proactive, routine sampling and testing by the department.
MDARD is working with its partners at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the California Department of Public Health to assist industry in removing affected products from commerce. However, since enoki mushrooms have a long shelf life, some consumers may still have the mushrooms. Consumers should discard these products or return them to the place of purchase.
