Interim fire Chief Nolan Sapp was appointed as the new fire chief of the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District on Tuesday.
The district’s fire commissioners opted to abandon the fire chief selection process that had been established so Sapp could be appointed.
Sapp served as interim chief since December when Kingman Schuldt left the chief position via a mutual agreement with the fire board.
Sapp has been in fire service since 1978 and served with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District for 19 years. He has been in fire service in Collier County for 30 years, according to the fire district.
