Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Jazz & Classics and Áak’w Rock Music Festival has announced their first partnership, a series of performances by the Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band. This groundbreaking collaboration is dedicated to lifting up Indigenous musicians from around the country and promoting cultural diversity in the arts.
The new agreement pushes back the deadline for opening the gondola by a year, setting it at May 31, 2028. If it doesn’t open by then, Goldbelt can back out. Goldbelt, Inc., is set to invest $10 million in the project and, in exchange, get a share of summer revenue for 25 years.
