As a result of the pandemic, the Tourist Bureau’s annual hospitality awards banquet was canceled in 2020. But in May 2021, the Excellence in Hospitality Awards ceremony honored more than 30 individuals in the restaurant, hotel, attraction, casino, and venue categories.
“It was extremely important for us to pause and thank these individuals who, in some cases suffered the greatest losses, but these same individuals were also instrumental in helping our recovery efforts,” Brown said.
Another key performance indicator is the meetings market, which has been the slowest sector to recover.
So, it was exciting news when the Tourist Bureau and its partners announced, July 8, that the Gold Wing Riders Association selected Shreveport-Bossier for their Wing Ding 43 Convention in June 2022. The group anticipates bringing 6,000 people with a $4.4 million economic impact.
