Construction is underway at Flood Brothers Farm for a first-in-Maine digester costing at least $20 million that is to produce natural gas from cow manure trucked in from in-state farms.
Summit Natural Gas is working with five dairy farms in Clinton to build and operate a digester that will create a new renewable natural gas program aimed at supporting the local economy.
This "manure-only" project is the first of its kind in Maine but joins a number of projects across the country that use the technology to reduce emissions and create renewable natural gas.
