A man was nabbed at the Imphal airport for carrying gold worth over Rs 70 lakh inside his rectum in the form of paste. Customs officials discovered two oval-shaped packets containing suspected foreign gold in the form of paste concealed in the accused's rectum. The recovered gold paste totals 972.28 grams, valued at Rs 70,31,601.
Bengaluru: An air passenger who had smuggled gold from Singapore by hiding it in his underwear was caught by sleuths from Bengaluru Customs at Kempego.
Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Tiruchirappalli airport in Tamil Nadu seized a total of 977 grams of 24 carat gold valued at Rs 70.58 lakh from a passenger arriving from Dubai.
The Customs department has seized diamonds concealed in packets of noodles and gold hidden in the body parts of passengers and baggage, collectively valued at Rs 6.46 crore, at the Mumbai airport, an official said.
