The Indian Navy has canceled its plan to hoist the national flag at Goa's Sao Jacinto island on Independence Day after the locals objected. CM Pramod Sawant has asked the Navy to continue with its plan, warning of strict action against locals for objecting to the event.
Yesterday, some residents of Sao Jacinto Island had objected to the hoisting ceremony, apprehending Centre may take over the island under the Major Ports Authorities Bill, 2020 in future.
