we are learning about new resistance from the justice department ahead of the scheduled testimony for special counsel robert mueller before congress next week. cnn has learned the justice department is seeking to discourage two of mueller s deputies from speaking to lawmakers behind closed doors. joining me now is former fbi general counsel jim baker. jim, great to have you with us. we heard william barr cast dispersions on the idea of mueller testifying in public and now we re learning the justice department is trying to keep two of his deputies from testifying. how do you read that? it s a consistent pattern the administration has been engaged in for some period of time now. i would hope that the folks on director mueller s team, special counsel mueller s team would agree to speak to congressional
going to become more normal, he felt. he resigned because president trump basically made him persona nongrata and didn t want to work with him after being insulted. what does this mean for how honest our diplomats should be? diplomats have to be honest, same for everybody else. we ve got to work with other people whether they say something nice about us or not. and one of the things the dictator of north korea figured he could stroke donald trump s ego and get better treatment. if that s all it takes, we re all in trouble. in the end we have to work with people whether we like them or not or agree with them or not. but to achieve the ends of american security and what the american people need, britain is one of our key allies, but this is making it harder to have an alliance we need. many other realities and so i think what s happened here, our alliances are fraying because
