whoa. yo, what s going on here? and so and i used to after i worked in the east side, you know, i spent a lot of time with folks going to the black church, reverend herring and others, because that s the place where i m a practicing catholic, i d go to mass, go over to church. that s a place where people would organize from. desegregate, you know, movie theaters, that kind of thing. i m not making myself to be a great sheik but that s how i got involved. people would say when they hear this, wait, is joe biden black? he came from the black community. i understand that. politically i come from the black community. i really do. it s the reason why i ran in the first place. that s how i got engaged. i didn t plan on running. i got engaged because of what was happening in my community. i got engaged as a county council man. i almost lost my seat. it was it really is the it s a little bit like today.
