The Indianapolis-based company said it had profit of $6.71 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $7.01 per share. The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $6.86 per share. The health insurer posted revenue of $32.39 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $32.1 billion, falling short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $33.23 billion. Anthem expects full-year earnings to be $25.10 per share, with revenue expected to be $135.1 billion.
