Cumbria Constabulary currently operates twelve CCTV Cameras in the area. All but two cameras are located within the town centre while two others are located outside of the town centre on Egerton Court, with a proposal being submitted to Barrow Borough Council to install a security camera on Duke Street. The cameras in the court went live in February 2020 and had been funded by BAE systems as well as the South Crime Safety Partnership. The cameras were installed facing the entrance and the opposite side of Egerton Court and provided coverage of the area. These cameras are monitored by Cumbria police at all times and are an additional resource in their long-term fight against crime, particularly anti-social behaviour, and drugs.

Scientists experimenting in the lab have found that the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is capable of infecting two types of brain cells neurons and astrocytes.
The findings could shed light on a possible reason for the bewildering array of neurological symptoms that follow some COVID-19 survivors even after they recover.
COVID-19 is best known as a respiratory disease, but for many victims, it also triggers an array of problems including memory lapses, fatigue and a certain sluggish, fuzzy feeling often referred to as “brain fog.”
