I think it’s fair to say that in the midst of this godforsaken pandemic, we could really have done without Brexit. I had mostly tuned out the chatter around it by the time it actually happened, which I think is forgivable, given how drawn-out and frustrating the whole thing was. Now though, it’s happened. It’s happened, and it’s affecting our online shopping.
As the UK is no longer part of the European Union, buying products from there means you may incur taxes and charges of up to 40pc of the original price on any order over €22. Some UK sellers have simply stopped shipping to Europe for the time being as a result of this, some are absorbing the extra fees into the original cost (not ideal), and some are saying buy at your own risk. ‘Your own risk’ meaning, we’ll sell it to you, but you may have to give your postman a chunk of cash in order for him to actually hand it over. It’s a pain, no doubt about that, especially if you rely on UK sellers to fulfil your beaut
