East Lyme The town will close Dean Road to through traffic between Whitney and Lovers Lanes from 8:30 a.m. until about 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday to take care of a few hazard trees.
In a message, the East Lyme Public Works Department said the town and Eversource have identified a few very large hazard trees in front of 57 Dean Road, including one that dropped a large branch on the road during a windstorm.
“Due to their size, the tree contractor will need a crane to safely bring them down,” the message stated. “The crane will need to be parked in the middle of Dean (Road) so we will need to close the road to thru traffic during the work.”

According to an individual with knowledge of the project, the team has been pursuing the rights to “Neglected Murderesses” for several years. It marks the first time the Edward Gorey Estate has allowed for an adaptation of the late author’s work. Furthermore, the Edward Gorey Charitable Trust has pledged that all profits earned from the series will be donated to a number of animal welfare organizations, given Gorey’s fondness for animals. The organizations include The Elephant Sanctuary, The International Fund for Animal Welfare, The National Marine Life Center, and many more.
