The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire Martin Surl is officially out of the running to reclaim his position. Surl, who has been the county s Police and Crime Commissioner since 2012, received just 34,286 votes during the first preference counts earlier today. Surl and his deputy Chris Brierley are said to have left the count in Gloucester upon hearing the result. No candidate received 50 per cent of vote so the vote now goes to second preferences.
